Position: Systems & Network Administrator

Location: Easy to get-to in New York City
Status: Full Time

The position –

 

As a System & Network Administrator responsibilities will include installation, configuration and maintenance of hardware and software for GridApp Systems' Software Development Environment, IT Infrastructure, and Internet Facing Services. The position requires hands-on experience in network & systems administration, setup and support.

 

Primary Responsibilities include –

 

  • Physical installation of servers and network equipment. Rack-mount, label, and inventory servers at GridApp offices and datacenter installations.
  • Problem diagnosis and solving of issues in Systems, Network and Application environments.
  • Installation and configuration of operating systems and software products according to GridApp standards.
  • General systems maintenance tasks such as building and managing physical and virtual servers, installing software, managing resource usage, and applying patches.
  • Unix/Linux support for development organization.
  • Windows Desktop support for all team members.

 

Job Requirements –

 

  • 3+ years experience systems administration in a production environment.
  • Extensive experience with the Linux operating system (RedHat/Fedora experience preferred). Solaris, HPUX, and/or AIX experience a plus.
  • Experience with large scale virtual server deployments (VMWare Server 1.x, and VMWare ESXi 3 preferred).
  • Experience with Windows Active Directory. Exchange experiences a plus.
  • Sound understanding of networking concepts.
  • Experience with the following software packages a plus: RedHat KickStart, Sun JumpStart, Veritas Cluster Server, Oracle, Apache, Retrospect.
  • Experience with SAN and NAS Storage concepts (NetApp experience preferred).
  • Scripting exerpience in Perl, Shell, and/or other languages.
  • Ability to learn new or unfamiliar technologies and products, independently using documentation and online resources a must.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills.
  • Strong focus on organization, and attention to detail.
