Position: Mid-Level QA Engineer (Heavy Linux/Unix Focus)
Location: Easy to get-to in New York City
Status: Full Time

The position –

 

This is a UNIX-BASED SOFTWARE QUALITY ASSURANCE POSITION. Are you certain your Unix skills are up-to-par? As a Software Quality Assurance (SQA) Engineer, you will review product requirements and engineering specifications, develop test plans, conduct manual testing, write automated test scripts, and execute the tests to successfully validate the quality of GridApp products. Ideal candidates will have strong understanding of, and experience with, developing automation frameworks for mission critical products. They will also possess strong oral communication skills, including the ability to build consensus among people with strong opinions.


Product code base is Perl, C++, C, PHP, and JavaScript.

 

You must bring to the table

 

  • 3-5 years hands-on experience in SQA
  • In Linux and/or UNIX (Solaris, HP-UX, AIX)
  • Extensive experience with bug tracking tools like JIRA, Bugzilla or ClearQuest
  • Reviewing product requirements and engineering specifications
  • Developing manual / automated test plans and conducting functional testing
  • Identifying ways to enhance testing strategy with new tools, processes, or techniques
  • You possess very strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills (you are also meticulous and detail-oriented - how many bugs have you found?)
  • Work well both a team environment and as an individual contributor and can positively adapt to changing requirements, deadlines and priorities
  • You are passionate about delivering innovative high quality customer-friendly products in a timely fashion
  • BSCS or equivalent work experience

Technical skills and tools that are plusses if you have them –

 

  • Experience in Perl scripting, shell scripting, and XML
  • Experience with commercial automation tools such as Segue/Silk, Mercury/QuickTest Pro, WinRunner
  • Knowledge of databases such as Oracle 10g, 11i, DB2, Sybase, SQL Server
  • Experience with source control systems such as Perforce and SVN
  • Knowledge of Agile Development processes
  • Experience in designing/developing automated test suites for enterprise-class products
